Following a successful professional surfing career in the late 70’s and 80’s, where he consistently ranked in the top 10 worldwide, Buzzy went on to become a mainstay model for Ralph Lauren for nearly 40 years. In the early 90's, Buzzy joined forces with “the strap crew” – Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama and Derek Doerner – to see if they could catch waves that had never before been ridden. As a team, they co-created Big-Wave surfing - forever changing the sport.

Out of the water buzzy is as full of life as he’s ever been. His new book titled, Making Waves, is a first-hand account of the development of the sport of surfing, its industry, untold stories and anecdotes from a life well-lived.

Buzzy joined us on EP 11 of Barefoot Union where we discussed life, play and his new book. Listen Here.
